Gum San Celebrates

Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre in Ararat, Victoria, Australia was established in 2001. It was created to commemorate the founding of our city. We are the only city in Australia founded by Chinese and in 2011 we are celebrating our 10th anniversary with events throughout the year.

Chinese New Year 2011
The community celebrated Chinese New Year with a lantern procession in Barkly Street. Children painted lanterns during the January school holiday program and proudly displayed them for all to see.
Local children parade with their lanterns
The parade included children wearing small lion dancing costumes, our Global Community Dragon, Shèn Lóng and the Hong De Lion Dance Troupe.
